Why should Students Take College Composition?

Why should students take college composition? Students should take college composition to help them learn new writing skills and to help students write college level papers. College composition helps to better grammar skills and to over all better students writing ability. College is a lot different than high school, and in high school teachers let students get away with a lot of mistakes. College composition allows students to learn the proper writing skills. Also allow them to change their bad habits and grow into a proper college writer.

Next Semester I will be most likely writing a lot of papers. I will be Taking all of the information that I learned in college composition into helping me writing my papers for next semester and all the semesters to follow. College come helped me change my bad grammar habits and become a better writer. I may not be a professional writer but i am a lot better.

Top 5 Things A Presenter SHOULD Do While Presenting

• Make Eye Contact With The Audience!

The Presenter should be looking at the audience and only the audience while presenting, nothing else. The presenter should look at each person and see what their reactions are, maybe there is a connection with the audience. Also make sure that it looks like everyone is understanding what is being talked about!

• Practice Before Presenting! 

This makes the presenter know what they are talking about before they get up in front of an audience. It is also good to practice in front of others, they will tell you what you are doing good and what you still need to practice.

• Dress Appropriate!                                     

Dress according to what the presentation is about. If you are trying to get across a serious issue dress professional to be taken serious.

• Be Prepared!                                          

Coming into a presentation the presenter wants to be very prepared. the presenter should make sure that they have everything that they need in order to make a good presentation.

• Ask Questions!                                           

Ask questions to the audience. it might answer questioning that they were confused about. Also allow the audience to ask questions and answer as clearly as possible. 

Top 5 Things A Presenter SHOULD NOT do while presenting

• Do not fidget. Don't play with hands, keep them out of pockets and still. This shows the presenter is nervous and will most likely not be taken seriously.
• Do not read right off of notes, power point or flashcards. This shows that the presenter doesn't really have knowledge on the topic they are presenting about.
• Do not talk quiet. If the presenter is not talking loud enough people might not be able to hear and get the information the presenter is trying to share.
  
• Do not use words "Like" "Um" over and over again. It shows that you are unsure what to say next.
• Do not rush through the presentation. This will give the audience to much information to fast and they will be confused.

What was the hardest part about writing my research paper?

What was the hardest part about writing my research paper? The hardest part was doing the actual research. It was hard to find five sources including a book about why college education should be free. I thought this topic would be easy because it related to me, but it was really hard to find the right articles and form them into a essay.

I am very happy that I accomplished this essay!I was so happy to get it over with. Finding and reading the articles took a lot of time but I finished it on time and I thought it was pretty good!

A personal weakness that I overcame while writing this essay was having to do everything on time. There was a set date for every part of the essay. usually I would wait till the last minuet to do everything but having everything due a certain date helped me be more organized and get everything done on time.

Research topic

For my research paper I chose to research about "Free College For Everyone." I chose this because I am a college student and going to college is very expensive! Why did I focus on this topic? I focused on this topic because it was one of the topics that I could relate to. Its hard to go to college and work part time just to help out with the tuition for school. I would like to find out if making college tuition free is a good idea. What are the pros and cons of making college tuition free and why it isn't free already? What I already know about this topic is that the cost of college keeps on rising and students are not able to go and higher their education because it is so expensive. I plan to argue that college should be free because students should not have to pay to go to college. They become in debt and students should not have to worry about that.
College tuition is very expensive and I bet most students could relate to this topic. Most students and families would want college tuition to be free for everyone so no one would have to be in debt from trying to get a higher education.

HELPFUL HAIRSTYLIST BLOG

In the Helpful Hairstylist blog by helpful hairstylist.com gives you great tips and information not just about hair but also about beauty. There is a really interesting video about a cool braid that looks hard but really anyone could do it. Also they give a great tip, to get a little more volume just crimp the root. 

There is a new brush out that is made for wet hair. When combing out wet hair you do not want to use a brush it will pull your hair out. The Wet Brush is a brush made especially for wet hair and will not pull out hair like a regular paddle brush. It detangles hair so easily so that moms can even use it on their little girls knotty hair. 

The blog talks about extensions and how they can pull out your hair due to the weight of the extension and can cause permanent hair loss when used every day. That is called traction alpaca. So when wearing extensions try to use them only on certain occasions not for a everyday use. 

There is a great tip for static hair that I thought was funny. All you have to do is rub a dryer sheet over ones hair and it should reduce the static.

My favorite thing about this blog was the information about the wrinkle prevention pillow. The memory foam pillow ergonomically lifts and keeps your head and neck in place while you sleep. Also to help the swelling of a really ugly zit, open up a Advil liquid gel and place the gel on your zit. This will reduce the swelling tremendously.

"Sir Ken Robinson, Do Schools Kill Creativity"

In the YouTube video "Sir Ken Robinson, Do Schools Kill Creativity" talked about how today schools only want you to learn math, science, and English. There isn't a subject for something creative that kids would want to learn. School today does not give children the chance to be creative and learn something that would benefit children and their creativity in the future. Creativity should be the same importance at literacy. He says that if you are not ready to be wrong you will not be ready to be creative. Many smart and creative students think they are not good enough for school because what they are good at is not able to be applied to school. There is only a certain amount of jobs out there and we are teaching every student the same thing rather they like it or not. His main idea is that schools do not let us follow our dreams and neither does society.
     I agree with the theory of Ken Robinson. I think that schools do not always let students show their creative side.They always push math and English on students even if the student wants to be a singer or a dancer when they are older. When I was in high school I was not into learning the main subjects. So I went to a trade school. Trade schools do not have dancing or singing but you can take something you are interested in and something that has a creativity side such as cosmetology, wood shop or floral.I tool cosmetology and that helped me show my creative side and love for doing hair.I think that students should be able to show what they are good at.

Why am i here? At SCCC..

So why am I here? Why am I at Schenectady County Community College? Good question. I don’t really know myself. I always knew that I wanted to go to college but I never knew where. I wanted to go away to school but didn’t want to leave my family. Also I didn’t really know what I wanted to do for a career so I thought I would start out here at SCCC.

When I was in high school I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I went to BOCES in Albany for cosmetology and I thought I wanted to do hair for a career. Through the two years I went to hair school I liked the trade less and less. Then I thought that I should think of something else to do. I knew that I wanted to help people in some way but didn’t know what exact direction to go in. so when I went to make my schedule for the fall semester I thought that going for social work would be interesting.
